Writing,
Producing, Directing and Performing comedy can be an incredibly
lucrative business (just ask Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey,
Adam Sandler, Steve Carrell or the other comedy
multi-millionaire superstars who command upwards of $20 million
bucks per movie!).
My
name is Scott Schaefer. You've probably never
heard of me (unless you read show credits, or are my Mom) – I’m
just a three-time National Emmy Award winning Comedy Writer
for a kid’s science/comedy show called “Bill
Nye the Science Guy” (PBS/Disney), and
recently a Field Director for "Penn & Teller:Bullsh*t!" (Showtime),
where I was nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award.
I've also written and directed for “The Arsenio Hall
Show” (Paramount), “Totally Hidden
Video” (Fox), "America's Funniest
People" (ABC), “The Late Show” (Fox) “Almost
Live!” (KING-TV, Seattle) and many others.
For over 21 years, I've been writing, producing and directing comedy
for a living. During this time, I've had the pleasure of working with
some of the funniest and most talented people in the business – comedy
writers, producers, directors and comedians, most of whom still work
in Hollywood (and several of whom are probably on the Writers Guild
picket lines as you read this).
